boot camp with eric yet again, tonight... my hamstrings have never experienced this much pain.

had another 'maybe i shouldn't be a doctor' moment tonight - spurred by a conversation with nomi and stacey:
tamar: the first time i went to the eye-doctor, when i was seven or so, he didn't ask me to read the letters from the wall, he just asked me if i could see them clearly. i was so scared i'd get glasses, i just kept telling him i could see the letters clearly. what about now? yes now? still clear. finally he just sent me out. i think he got fed up with me.
naomi: maybe he heard that you bite.
stacey: you bit people?
tamar: only my pediatrician.
stacey: why?
tamar: he was trying to give me a shot.
stacey: you bit him!
tamar: yeah, they used to bring three nurses in to hold me down.
stacey: i still have to watch when they give me shots.
naomi: me too.
tamar: oh, i can't watch... wow, i'm going to make a great doctor.

for those of you farther north - it was over 90 today and tomorrow it's supposed to be 95. so hot that i finally bust out the bikini for the pool the other day. picked a spot by the corner of the pool to read "everything is illuminated" (jonathan safran foer's new novel)... i was trying to be as inconspicous as possible, only i kept laughing aloud and then even talking so true, so true! and huh! [lightbulb flash]. i have half a mind to start quoting some of my favorite parts, but you can read it for yourself.

do you ever have auditory hallucinations during certain songs? recently i've noticed i hear sirens, not all the time but sometimes. i noticed this while driving (not a convenient time to hear phantom sirens). also, whenever yael has her playlist on and 'it must have been love' is playing ('Pretty Woman' soundtrack) i hear my mother (at least three times during the course of the song) calling me (TAMAA~R! - tilda to note israeli R sound). i didn't discover this until a few minutes ago when the song was playing and i was about to get up and scream back what! but stopped, b/c my mother is in israel. granted, it is very possible that she is indeed screaming at me from netanya, even considering that it is 7:30am there, but i doubt my hearing is that good despite what vodoo-scientists say about being able to hear a loved one's voice from miles away.
